Dominic James Brown is standing as the Labour candidate for the Alderley Ward in the forthcoming local election.
Dominic has lived in Alderley Edge for several years and is an engineer by profession, having worked in the family business for much of his adult life. Dominic is a long-serving member of the Unite union, a keen traveller, follower of the arts and a regular visitor to the village's restaurants.
Dominic told me "I've been a part of Alderley Edge for many years, and have felt the warmth and community of the area ever since moving here. The village has much going for it, but it's also in danger of losing it's village feel.
"Living in the heart of the village, I know it's an area of many aspirations. The combination of young and old locals make the village vibrant, but the area is nothing without strong local services. It's a sad state of affairs when the Conservatives and Liberal Democrats are choosing to cut investment to our schools and cut vital winter fuel payments for the elderly.
"I want to stand-up for the community I believe in, and even if you're not a usual Labour voter I hope you can trust in my belief of what our village can be.
"I believe it's crucial, in economic times like this, that the council support the village's economy and local businesses. The recent closure of well established businesses in Alderley is worrying, and it's vital we support local endeavours and don't bog businesses down in bureaucracy.
"Parking is a real issue locally. Living on a small residential street myself, I've experienced first-hand the problems the residents have in parking by their own property. This needs to change, and local residents should be offered priority over visiting drivers.
"Regardless of the result hopefully this can be the start of a strong link between the local Labour Party and Alderley Edge and I welcome any input from village residents about what they think is important."
