A burglar targeted a semi rural terraced property on Knutsford Road during the afternoon of Tuesday 29th March.
The male suspect tried to gain access by prising open the wooden backdoor with a crow bar. He then attempted to kick the backdoor in but was disturbed by a neighbour who called the police at 3.30pm. The occupant of the house wasn't in at the time.
Police officers, a dog handler and the police helicopter then carried out a search of the area but unfortunately the suspect managed to escape.
