Couple tied up in terrifying burglary ordeal

An Alderley Edge couple suffered an horrific ordeal whilst thousands of pounds worth of jewellery was stolen from their house.

Police were called to Macclesfield Road at 10.40pm last night, Wednesday 23rd March, where the two occupants had been tied up.

At least four men had forced their way into the property and assaulted the 67-year-old man. He suffered bruising and swelling to his face and body, as well as a cut above his eye as a result of the assault.

They then tied him and his wife, aged 66, up and stole jewellery and the car keys to their Grey Mercedes.

The offenders drove off in the victims Mercedes, which was later discovered abandoned in the Openshaw area of Manchester.

Detective Sergeant Adam Alexander from Wilmslow CID said: "The victims were understandably terrified and have been left extremely shaken as a result of this intrusion.

"To have your home invaded in this way effects people for a long time and these men need to be caught. If anyone has any information about the burglary or saw the stolen car before it was abandoned in Manchester, please call me."

The offenders, who all had balaclavas covering their faces, were described as white and aged in their early 20's.

Anyone with any information is asked to call police on 0845 458 0000 quoting incident number 963 of 23rd March, or alternatively call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
