Parade car park to close for resurfacing

photo

The Parade car park will be closed from 6am on Tuesday, 15th March until 3pm on Thursday, 18th March.

The short stay car park is being resurfaced by Bluemantle, the landlords, and once this is complete they will then re-line all the parking bays.

Pedestrian access via the steps off London Road will also be closed whilst the work is being carried out.

Alternative car parks can be found on South Street, West Street, at the Festival Hall and by the park on Ryleys Lane.

The whole area need a re-vamp. Does anyone walk to The Parade from West Street (by the new Dentist), down the steps and at the back of the underground car-park like I do on a regular basis? It's so filthy & smelly with litter. Who is responsible for cleaning this area?

When considering The Parade car park then attention does need to be given to the lighting at the station end. Summer and lighter evenings are now on their way, but on the darker autumn and winter days, particularly in the evenings, the steps are very dark and I believe quite dangerous. As with Louise I am not sure who is responsible for the steps there. Is it Bluemantle or the East Cheshire Council as they get the parking revenue. Whoever it is could get a hefty claim against them should someone lose their footing and an accident occur.

The steps past the dentist are not only an aesthetic disgrace they are dangerous.
