Although the closing date for the Wilmslow Half Marathon isn't until February each year, runners are always strongly advised to enter as early as possible because the race is oversubscribed every year.
This year the race reached its capacity of 4,000 runners before Christmas, making the 2011 Asics Wilmslow Half Marathon more popular than ever.
However, we have been informed that 50 spare places have just become available, offering local runners the rare opportunity to grab a last minute place at the starting line on Sunday 27th March.
Malcolm Fowler, from Wilmslow Running Club which organises the race, said "I had to reserve quite a few places for elite runners and not all of them have been taken up.
"I'd like these to go predominately to local residents so I thought it would be a good idea to place something on alderleyedge.com and wilmslow.co.uk announcing that places are still available for local residents or runners living near to Wilmslow."
