A house on Downsway in Alderley Edge was broken in to between the hours of 5.35pm and 6.20pm on Thursday 17th February.

The offenders gained entry via rear doors and made an untidy search of premises. Small items and jewellery were taken from the property and the offenders made off in an unknown direction.

A couple of days earlier thieves targeted four properties in Wilmslow within a 24 hours period this week.

During the afternoon of Tuesday, 15th February offenders entered the back garden of an unoccupied bungalow on Thorngrove Drive. Having smashed a rear bedroom window they entered the property and stole an Xbox with games and three kitchen knives.

Later the same day, between 11.20pm and 11.25pm, offenders approached a house on Tudor Green and threw a brick through the window panel of the front door. They then reached in to the house, removed the car keys from the door and escaped in the homeowners vehicle.

A third burglary occurred during the early hours of the following morning when offenders approached a terraced property on Cherry Tree Close. Entrance to the property was gained by throwing a brick through the glass pane of the front door, enabling the offender to reach in and remove the car keys. He gave the occupant the V-sign before making off in their car.

An attempted burglary also occurred on Lees Lane, where offenders approached a detached property and tried to gain entry via the rear wooden door. They attempted to remove the rotting door frame and pull out the glass but they were unsuccessful. They then forced entry to the conservatory, by smashing a window but failed to gain entry to the living room via a secure door.

PCSO Sarah Stanley, from Wilmslow Neighbourhood Policing Team, said "It is unknown at this moment in time if they are connected. However, the ones on Tudor Green, Cherry Tree and Lees Lane were all reported within 24 hours, are located in the same geographical area and the method of entry is also similar."

Cheshire Police advise residents to think about their home security and remind them to use window locks, especially on older windows, and deadlocks if you have them.

Don't leave spare keys outside, in a garage or a shed, and ensure car or garage keys are placed out of sight in the house. Visible burglar alarms, good lighting and carefully directed and limited security lighting can also act as deterrents.

If you are going to be away from home overnight it is advisable to use timers for lights and radios.

Anyone with information about these burglaries should contact Cheshire Police on 0845 458 0000 or pass information anonymously using the Crimestoppers number - 0800 555 111.
