On Monday I attended the Alderley Edge Parish Council monthly meeting at the Festival Hall.

A lengthy discussion took place about the forthcoming Parking Review which Paul Burns, Parking Services Manager at Cheshire East Council, told me on 1st February had been delayed by another 2-3 weeks.

A letter received from Heather Wienholt was read out by the Chairman after which Councillor M W Maczkowiak commented that local traders are very serious about the issue of parking in the village. However, the Parish Council agreed that the whole situation in the village must be looked at together, rather than as isolated areas which could result in problems being caused elsewhere.

Nothing was reported in regard to the Festival Hall, as it was being dealt with at a subsequent private meeting, but issues that were discussed included: roads signs not being updated to direct traffic on to the new bypass, the need to find a new location for the Youth Club because the Royal Oak is closing and whether the Parish Council should correspond with the Post Office to see how it views the situation.

Councillor Herald reported that the park railings opposite Panacea have now been repaired, following a car accident in October, and that Friends of the Park have arranged for the handrail on the stairs leading off London Road to be cleaned up.
