The roadworks at Monks Heath are now complete and the traffic flow at this junction returned to normal at lunchtime.

Doug Mackie, Project Manager at Cheshire East, said "Problems with traffic queues at morning and evening peak times should be substantially reduced.

"Initially the junction will be controlled by the existing signals, power for the new signals has been promised for Monday so if that happens the new signals will be in operation from Tuesday or Wednesday.

"The new signals at the A34/Bollington Lane junction won't be commissioned until the new year, so this junction will operate with give ways."

Yes & as predicted, sat in a queue for southbound traffic whilst a vehicle turning right to Chelford waited for a break in oncoming traffic. All this time there was no traffic in the left filter lane for the traffic heading towards Macclesfield. Will the new traffic lights make any difference? I fear not!
