Premiership footballers return to the kitchen

Shaun Wright-Phillips in the kitchen

Do premiership footballers know their brûlée from their beef bourguignon? Fancy themselves as cocktail connoisseurs?

Following the success of Five Stars Scanner Appeal's first Premiership Cook Off in April, which raised over £60,000 for the charity, players will put their kitchen whites back on to compete in the second leg of the most heated battle in football. After Shaun Wright –Phillips and his team won the first Cook Off, the race is on to steal his crown.

The exclusive event will be held at Panacea on Sunday 5th December. The night will start at 6.00pm and will see 21 footballers brave enough to swap the pitch for the kitchen, cooking and bar tending for over 100 guests. Bar tickets for the night are also available, which will give access to an after show party with the VIP guests.

Those taking part in the Cook Off are Gareth Barry, David Silva, Gabriel Obertan, Patrick Vieira, Wayne Bridge, Adam Johnson, Nigel de Jong, Joe Hart, Emmanuel Adebayor, Zat Knight, Eidur Gudjohnsen, Ricardo Fuller, Jermaine Pennant, Mark Wilson, Sanli Tuncay, Joleon Lescott, Micah Richards, Roque Santa Cruz, Kenwyne Jones, Stuart Holden and Shaun Wright-Phillips.

The stars will be split into two teams and will then go head to head in a bid to raise funds for local charity the Five Stars Appeal. Each team of footballers will nominate a captain, who will then select team members to work in the kitchen, the restaurant bar, the lounge bar as well as waiters to look after the guests. They will cook and serve a starter, main and dessert, while the guests decide which team will be crowned the overall winners on the night by voting for their favourite after each course.

Five Stars has been raising funds for Royal Manchester Children's Hospital for over 34 years. The charity has held many fundraising events in a bid to raise the £1 million needed to purchase a vital new MRI scanner for the hospital. The cook off is one of the final events to be held before the end of the year, in the hope of raising the remaining funds needed to buy the scanner.
