Village celebrates Halloween in spooktacular style

Alderley Edge celebrated the spooky season last night, Friday October 29th, with a Halloween bash at the Festival Hall.

The fun began with a free children's Halloween Party where the youngsters were entertained with games, including bobbing for apples, balloon modelling by Alan Russell from Rainbow Balloons and music from Imagine FM.

As you can see from the photos above, the children wore some fantastic creepy costumes and prizes in the fancy dress competition were awarded to Maria, Hugo and Hannah. The Festival Hall looked spooktacular, having been decorated by Mitch Gilbert, Chairman of the Alderley Action Group, who hosted the event.

The children's party was followed later in the evening by an adult's bash, during which, those who fancied a fright took a torch lit walk up to The Edge and back.

Reflecting on last night, Mitch Gilbert said "I organised the event because I thought we needed something fun that didn't cost an arm and a leg.

"The children's party went extremely well, they all seemed to have a great time. Those adults who came enjoyed it, those who didn't attend missed a great evening. Get ready for next year, it's going to get better!"

The atmosphere was really great and I agree, all the children certainly seemed to have had a wonderful time. Many of the parents I spoke to really appreciated all the effort that had been put in to creating the Halloween bash, especially as it was free for the children. I really hope there is another Halloween Party next year, an important date in the village's social calendar.
