Fruitcake Ladies Night a great success

Last night supermodel Alex Leigh did a tremendous job hosting a Ladies Night at Fruitcake Cafe, in aid of the Five Stars Appeal.

The cafe had been transformed by Brenda Howard at Designs on the Edge, which highlighted just how versatile the venue is, and a host of local businesses were demonstrating their skills. Mairead and the girls from Fiorucci were offering complementary massages, facials and manicures and the team from Shirley Valentines impressed with the HD brows and threading treatments.

Other stalls included Arbonne Cosmetics, DeFacto boutique, LJ's Natural Solutions and Rumpus Lingerie who's model was showcasing this seasons designer collections.

Local businesses generously donated prizes for the raffle, with a £500 voucher from the House of W as top prize. The raffle raised over £600 for the charity, which has been supporting the Royal Manchester Children's Hospital for over 30 years and is currently raising much needed funds to purchase a new MRI scanner to help save the lives of children from across Greater Manchester and beyond.

The event was really well supported with 150 ladies turning out, the atmosphere was great, the wine flowed all evening and many of ladies seemed reluctant to leave at the end of it.

Anna Sheridan owner of Fruitcake said "We are so proud to be able to host the Ladies Night here at the Fruitcake Cafe, the evening was an amazing success and I would like to thank everybody who worked so hard to pull it all together. We are truly delighted by what we have raised for the children's charity."

As well as having tremendous support from their female customers, luck was also on Fruitcake's side - they were one of the few places not to be affected by last night's power cut which left guests at Panacea's first birthday celebrations sitting in the dark for over an hour.

Great report Lisa! It was a fab event - well organised, good cause, fab people and lovely scones, thanks to Anna's mum!

What a superb evening. Thoroughly enjoyed it and raising money for a good cause makes it even more special. Look forward to more ladies nights and fundraising events. A big thanks to Anna, her mum (agree with Collette .... the scones were delicious!) and the wider team! You could see that a lot of hard work had gone into the great organisation.
