Successful start to police surgery initiative

Jim Newns

I held my first police surgery yesterday, Saturday 25th September between 10am -12pm.

The surgery went well with 20 local people sharing their views on issues that concern them in the village. It was great to run the surgery whilst footpatrolling on London Road from Costa Coffee to Natwest.

Whilst showing a visible presence in the village I was able to approach people as they stolled through the village or sipped coffee at one of the cafe's. I would like to express my thanks to all persons who assisted me with the surgery. Your opinions count.

The things that concerned people the most were:

  • Parking on Ryleys Lane, Brook Lane, Lydiat Lane, Lynton Lane and in and around London Road (10 votes).
  • Anti-social behaviour in the parks off London Road and Oakfield Close (5 votes).
  • Visible police presence on London Road (2 votes).
  • Litter on London Road (2 votes).
  • Burglaries (1 vote).

The next surgery date is Saturday October 23rd 10am -12pm London Road.

Other dates for this year, with the same location and time, are November 27th and December 18th.

In the meantime please assist me by using the comment box below to discuss what concerns you via alderleyedge.com.
