Good Food Guide recommends Alderley Edge Hotel

As the Good Food Guide celebrates its 60th anniversary, standards in the North West show no sign of slipping with 13 new entries revealed this week. This brings the total number of restaurants from the North West in the Guide to eighty four.

The Good Food Guide is a very well respected publication, which was created in 1951 to raise the standards of dining out in Britain, and new entries from the North West in The Good Food Guide 2011 include the Alderley Edge Hotel which was praised for 'good cooking, showing sound technical skills and using quality ingredients'.

Chris Holland, Head Chef at The Alderley Restaurant, said "It's really pleasing for the team to be recognized on a national level as well as locally, all homegrown talent."

Elizabeth Carter, Consultant Editor of The Good Food Guide 2011, said "The experience of dining out in the North West has been transformed over the last 60 years, and the restaurant scene is thriving. With 13 new entries in The Good Food Guide 2011, plus two Editors' Awards for Best Up-and-Coming Chef Mary-Ellen McTague and Best Value for Money restaurant delifonseca, dining in the North West is on the up and up.

The other 12 new entries from the North West are: The Wheatsheaf in Brigsteer, Blacksmiths Arms in Broughton Mills, David's Restaurant in Carlisle, The Pheasant in Cockermouth, The Duke of York Inn in Grindleton, Hastings Eating and Drinking House in Lytham, Dilli in Altringham, Damson in Heaton Moor, Aumbry in Prestwich, The Mark Addy in Salford, delifonseca in Liverpool and Peninsula Dining Room in Wallasey.
