The new face of Alderley Edge policing

Jim Newns

I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself. I am Jim Newns and I have worked for Cheshire Constabulary for over 3 years. During this time I have experienced a great deal whilst policing, and have found the role of the PCSO to be extremely rewarding.

Most of my time is spent building solid relationships with the community by showing a visible presence out on foot. Prior to my role as a PCSO I spent many years delivering a service to adults who have learning difficulties both in the public and private sectors. I enjoy most sports and used to be a keen runner competing for Salford and Wilmslow running clubs. These days I enjoy trips to the gym, walking and the great outdoors. I am married with two young children that take up a lot of my free time, with the usual trips to the park, swimming etc.

I am in the process of setting up a police base in Alderley at the festival hall. This will allow me to spend my time 'on the patch', something that I have done previously at both Handforth and Colshaw Farm. This will also allow me to be more accessable to the public whom I serve. I will keep you posted on these developments.

Police Surgeries/pledge meetings are to have a new twist. I will patrol the shop fronts from Costa Coffee to Natwest and approach people whilst they shop and visit cafe's. Dates for these surgeries will be posted in the events pages of alderleyedge.com, the first one of which will be held on September 25th.

Please assist me in discussing what concerns you via the site.

I look forward to meeting you whilst out in the village.
