Birse Civils have informed us that Brook Lane will reopen tomorrow morning. The road has been closed since March 22nd whilst Birse constructed the new bridge as part of the on-going works for the A34 Alderley Edge and Nether Alderley Bypass.
A spokesperson from Birse said "We don't anticipate any further closures, but there are some outstanding works particularly fencing which will require traffic management for a period."
Delays caused by BT prevented Birse from reopening Brook Lane as originally intended on August 19th so they worked through last weekend to ensure that the road is open for the Bank Holiday and more importantly for the start of school.
The footpath on Brook Lane, which has been closed since 4th August, will also reopen tomorrow morning.
The spokesperson from Birse added "The bypass will hopefully be opened in November, we can't set a date as we still have to take into account the weather and other aspects that may hold things up. But we are hopeful!"
To mark the occasion representatives from Nether Alderley Parish Council, Alderley Edge Rotary Club, Wilmslow Running Club, Seashell Trust and the Combined Charities Christmas Shops have come together to provide us with the opportunity to run, or walk, the bypass on Sunday October 24th - before it is open to traffic.
