An inquest will be held into the death of a Stephen 'Aki' Akinyemi who was found dead at the home of Arran Coghlan in Alderley Edge last February. A post mortem revealed that he had died of a gun shot wound to the head.

Mr Coghlan appeared at Liverpool Crown Court on Thursday July 29th where he was cleared of the murder of Mr Akinyemi on February 9th 2010 at his converted chapel on Brook Lane.

Having pleaded not guilty to a charge of murder in respect of the death of Stephen Akinyemi, Arran Coghlan was released from prison last week after the Crown Prosecution Service dropped a charge of murder because they were unable to prove that the defendant had not acted in self defence.

An inquest will now be held in to the death Stephen Akinyemi by Cheshire Coroner Nicholas Rheinberg will conduct the hearing. The inquest is an enquiry to ascertain the facts concerning the death and does not apportion blame on any individual.

I have spoken to the coroners office this morning who confirmed "An inquest will be held but a date has not been set yet."

The Crown Prosecution Service decided there was 'no longer a realistic prospect of conviction' after receiving forensic evidence last month.
