The smell of freshly made coffee or freshly baked bread is apparently the key to selling your house, however, staff at Gascoigne Halman have taken things a stage further. They have been baking cakes, cookies and muffins and selling them to prospective home buyers, sellers and anyone passing by their office - all in aid of a good cause.

Gascoigne Halman's 'Bakethon' challenged staff at 17 offices across the region to don their aprons and whisk up some delicious donations for The Christie, raising a grand total of £2,017 on the day.

The team from Alderley Edge said "Who could resist the lure of a cupcake, especially when you know that you are indulging yourself for a good cause? It was a great deal of fun and I think the staff enjoyed creating, and then eating, the various cakes."

The event was part of a year long effort by the team at Gascoigne Halman, to support The Christie charity which raises money to fund projects at The Christie NHS Foundation Trust which are outside the scope of the NHS.

Earlier in the year the boss, John Halman, was challenged to raise a ransom of £1800 to get out of gaol and further events are planned for later in the year.

Commenting on the team's fundraising efforts, John Halman said "As I hoped, our staff have really pulled out all the stops to raise vital funds for The Christie. I am really proud of them and proud that together, as a company, we are able to lend our support."
