Alderley Edge charity, David Lewis, has won recognition from Her Majesty the Queen for its work with people with severe epilepsy and complex conditions.

The charity received a special invitation from the Lord Chamberlains Office for a representative of the charity to join Her Majesty for tea today at Buckingham Palace.

Isobel Hind, who is David Lewis’ Chair of Trustees, will be attending on the charities behalf. Isobel has a long history of involvement with the charity, starting in 1998 as School Governor and then becoming the Chair of Trustees in April 2009.

She says "I’m delighted that we have received this special invitation from Her Majesty for all of the work David Lewis does for people aged 16 upwards who have complex epilepsy, physical and learning disabilities and other neurological conditions.

"I’m extremely proud to be representing the staff, residents, students, Board and Trustees of this amazing charity, which already has a Royal connection – Her Royal Highness The Countess of Wessex is one of our patrons."

David Lewis is the UK’s largest provider of care, education, assessment and life skill development for people with complex needs, including epilepsy and learning difficulties. It focuses on the person, not their condition and aims to improve the health, self-confidence and wellbeing of every person in their care.

The organisation has helped over 8000 young people and adults since it opened in October 1904. To find out more, or make a donation, visit the Davis Lewis website
