Volunteers will be coming together on Sunday 21st April at 11:00 am to take part in the Keep Britain Tidy 'Great British Spring Clean' campaign.

Alderley Edge in Bloom Group have organised to pick the litter-strewn A34 Melrose Way, Alderley Edge bypass.

Stewart Dyer from the Bloom group commented "We expect to to fill over 40 bags of litter. We welcome local residents to join in and help clear the worst of the rubbish that litters the bypass. We can help with equipment and hi-viz jackets. Ansa Services are lending us some litter picking equipment and supplying litter bags. The full bags will be picked up by Ansa after the event."

Leslie Cox, chair of the Bloom group, said "We pick litter all year round. We meet at the station car park every Monday morning at 10:00 am and pick for an hour before retiring to the village for a well-earned cup of coffee. It's great exercise with an important social element. I'm sure the bypass pick will be a big success and it's great to have local residents join in."

The litter pickers will set off at 11am from the Chelford Road bridge over the bypass, near to Alderley Edge Cemetery.

If you are interested in joining the litter pickers contact Stewart Dyer by email [email protected].
