Portland Wine has opened in the village today, in the building previously occupied by Threshers. Portland Wine is an independent company, owned by Geoff Dickinson, which has been in operation for 25 years.

With branches in Hale, Macclesfield, Marple, Sale and another recently opened store in Tarporley, they stock a broad range of wines, starting from £5 bottles right up to Penfolds Grange at £450 a bottle.

Mandy Tonge, who has worked at Portland Wine for 17 years, has spent the week setting up the new store and will be there for the next 2 weeks until the new manager starts.

Mandy said "We try to be competitively priced, especially on champagne and if a customer wants something particular we will always try to get it in. A customer just came in looking for Pol Roger so I've made a call and we will be getting some stock shortly."
