This month, sustainable style will support an important cause, with the Cheshire Clothes Swap raising much-needed funds for Cancer Research UK.

The event, taking place on Thursday 8th September, 6pm – 8pm, at the Alderley Park Conference Centre, will allow attendees to breathe new life into their wardrobe whilst supporting Cancer Research UK's life-saving research.

The Cheshire Clothes Swap is asking attendees to bring along ten pre-loved items of clothing or accessories that they will be able to trade for tokens. They will then be able to exchange those tokens for donated items.

Alongside the clothes swap, the event will also include a pop-up bar, music and a mini market showcasing local businesses.

Speaking on her motivation to set up this event, Event Founder Georgie Hett said: "Cancer Research UK is a charity very close to my heart. Losing two grandparents to cancer and supporting friends in overcoming the disease has given me insight into the impact of this cruel disease and an understanding of how critical Cancer Research UK is in the fight against cancer.

"Converging this cause with my passion for sustainable fashion is an absolute pleasure. The Cheshire Clothes Swap will be a fantastic evening of browsing and bubbles. I couldn't think of a more enjoyable way to support such an important cause."

Dr Caroline Wilkinson, Chief Operating Officer at the Cancer Research UK Manchester Institute, said: "I am delighted that the Clothes Swap is coming to Alderley Park, which is where the Cancer Research UK Manchester Institute is currently based and I am immensely grateful to the organisers and all those taking part. It is such an innovative way to raise much needed funds for Cancer Research UK as it celebrates its 20-year anniversary. Thanks to research, cancer survival has doubled over the past 40 years. Cancer Research UK's ambition is to accelerate progress so that by 2034, three in four people will survive their cancer for at least 10 years. I hope that everyone enjoys the evening and I'd like to thank everyone involved for their support."

"Sustainable fashion is important to me, and my social media platforms give me the opportunity to encourage people to buy pre-loved and support charities whilst doing it! The Cheshire Clothes Swap event is to raise money for Cancer Research UK, a charity I'm passionate about as I've had skin cancer. The event is the first of its kind in Cheshire and I'm looking forward to be able to meet some of my followers whilst raising money for charity."

Event tickets can be purchased online for £12.50 or at the door for £15.00. Tickets include a complimentary welcome drink, two raffle entries and up to 10 swap items of clothing.

Any remaining clothes will be donated to the British Red Cross following the event to support people affected by the Ukraine war.
