Too many footballers spoil the broth?

Do Premiership footballers know their brûlée from their beef bourguignon?

Team captains Shay Given (Man City) and Carlo Nash (Everton) will be joined by a selection of premiership stars for an exclusive charity cook off event at Panacea to find out whether their cookery merits a man of the match award or a red card.

The unique event, sponsored by Bentley Manchester, is taking place in aid of local children’s charity Five Stars Appeal. The Five Stars Appeal has been raising funds for Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital for over 30 years and is currently just £350,000 away from the latest appeal to raise £1million needed to purchase a vital new MRI scanner which will help to save the lives of children from across Greater Manchester and beyond.

Shay Given's team will be made up entirely of Man City players: Micah Richards, Shaun Wright-Phillips, Roque Santa-Cruz, Wayne Bridge, Javi Garrido, Pablo Zabaleta and Patrick Vieira. They will go head to head with Carlo Nash's team consisting of El Hadji Diouf (Blackburn), Steven Nzonzi (Blackburn), Pascale Chimbonda (Blackburn), Tuncay (Stoke), Titas Bramble (Wigan) and Charles N'Zogbia (Wigan).

Both teams will be cooking up a storm in the kitchen and mixing cocktails for the lucky guests. The diners will vote after each of the three courses to decide which team will be crowned the overall winners on the night.

Once the Premiership cook-off competition has come to an end, diners will be free to enjoy banter with the celebrity comperes, Derby County’s Robbie Savage and ex-City player Nicky Summerbee, followed by a VIP party to end the evening's entertainment.

Joe Akka, Managing Director for Panacea, comments: “It promises to be a really great night and we’ll see if the players are as good in the kitchen as they are on the football field!”

The event takes place on Sunday 18th April from 6.30pm. Tickets are limited so book early to avoid disappointment by calling the Five Stars Appeal office on 0161 798 8936 or visiting the Five Stars Appeal website.

Tickets for the dinner are £175.00 per person which includes a drinks reception.
