Sam Ros Thai Restaurant opened yesterday evening in the Royal Oak pub on Heyes Lane. Licensee Tracy OConnell will be running Sam Ros, which means 3 flavours, with her friend and neighbour Gey Johnson who is originally from Thailand but has been living in this country for the past three years.

Tracy explained "We want to give the Royal Oak something different. Gey will be doing all the cooking and her husband Andy will do front of house with myself. The locals will be familiar with some of the staff and we are also employing some thai waitresses.

"We hope this new venture will be another great step forward for us as the community has been very welcoming and supportive to me and my family over the last 16 months." added Tracy.

The a la carte menu offers a selection of starters and soups with stir fry, curry and noodle dishes to follow. A thai buffet will be on offer shortly and Tracy is also intending to bring back the Sunday lunch before too long. Sam Ros will be open for dinner Tuesday to Sunday and for lunch Thursday to Sunday.

A grand opening is being tomorrow, Saturday April 3rd, from 7pm when a selection of nibbles will be available to taste.
