Fancy a beer?

Fancy a Beer Mate will be hosting their first Beer Festival at the Alderley Edge Festival Hall next month.

The two day event, on Friday 23rd and Saturday 24th of April, will have a St George’s Day theme with a selection of special ales available which have been brewed at this time of year specifically to commemorate St. Georges Day.

Fancy a Beer Mate has been set up by neighbours and friends Mark Jordan and Justin Thompson who share an interest in sports, beer and socialising. Both have full time jobs, Mark is a professional engineer and Justin is an IT consultant, but they are planning to run a number of beer festivals in the future with a second one booked in Sale for May.

Mark said "We went to a beer festival last year, took an interest in how it was run and felt we had the skills to run them. In addition we know of a number of locations that have talked about running festivals but haven't done so. There is also an increasing interest in real ales. So add all that together and we felt there was a gap in the market that we could fill.

"The event will have a friendly atmosphere, where people can come and enjoy a wide range of beers with their friends, whether they drink real ales or not. It will be professionally run, with food available, and background music."

Thirty real ales, all sourced from local independent breweries, will be available alongside three ciders, a selection of wines and, to promote sensible drinking, drivers will be offered a selection of soft drinks for free.

Entrance will be £5.00, which includes an engraved festival glass and a brochure listing all the beers. A token system will be in operation which will work out at £1.25 for a half and £2.50 for a pint.

Tickets are sold on the day and the festival will be open from 5pm to 11pm on Friday 23rd and 12 noon to 11pm on Saturday 24th April.
