Shortly after 4pm Firefighters received a report of a fire outside a domestic property in Duke Street on Tuesday, 21st April.

On arrival, shortly after 4pm, the crew discovered that the fire involving two wheelie bins and around a square metre of hedgerow had been extinguished by an occupier.

Firefighters turned over and damped down the remnants of the fire to make the area safe and temperatures were monitored with a thermal imaging camera.

Firefighters were in attendance for around 20 minutes.

The fire is believed to have been caused by the sun's rays shining onto glass bottles.

You'd be lucky if they could get a fire engine down Duke Street. It is very narrow.

It is worth remembering that a round magnifying mirror can project the sun's rays onto nearby fabric such as curtains to cause fire.
