Restaurant evacuated as fire breaks out in roof space

Customers were evacuated from a restaurant in the village last night whilst three fire crews spent hours dealing with a large fire.

Firefighters from Wilmslow, Macclesfield and Wythenshawe were called to a fire in the roof space of Piccolino on Wilmslow Road just after 6.30pm on Thursday, 2nd January.

The Wilmslow crew were first in attendance and quickly gained control of the fire and with the support of other fire engines extinguished the fire.

Fire damage was limited to the building where the fire started and no one was injured.

While fighting the fire crews used two breathing apparatus, one hose reel jet, one covering jet and two hose reels.

They then used two thermal imaging cameras to check for hotspots.

Crews were engaged at this incident for approximately five hours.
