Christmas concert raises £750 for local hospice

Alderley Edge Symphony Orchestra and the Ryleys chamber choir delighted a packed house at the Methodist Church with a varied programme of Christmas music and readings on Sunday 15th December. The Church was full, with extra seats required to accommodate the audience.

Helen Hall, from the orchestra, said: "We wanted to provide an afternoon of happy, cheerful Christmas fayre to get people into the mood for Christmas and we certainly seemed to succeed with this. The audience joined in enthusiastically with all the Christmas carols and clapped along energetically to the Strauss Radetsky March!

We were all moved by the lovely clear voices of the children's choir and by the beautiful singing of our soloist, Anna Townsend."

The AESO will be sending a cheque for £750 to the East Cheshire Hospice, their chosen charity for this concert.

Your next chance to hear the orchestra will be on March 7th 2020 when they will again be performing in the Methodist Church. The programme comprises Mussorgsky: Pictures at an Exhibition; Beethoven: Piano Concerto No3 with soloist Slava Sidorenko and the Tchaikovsky Suite: Sleeping Beauty.

Tickets can be bought online or by phoning 01625 581321.
