Triple success for Bloomers

Alderley Edge in Bloom group are delighted to have been awarded the 'Keep Britain Tidy Litter Heroes of the Week' award today (Friday, 8th November).

This is a third award in a week for the Bloomers after the Gold award in the RHS North West in Bloom competition and the 'Pride of Cheshire East ' award for good work they carry out in the community.

Chair of the group Leslie Cox and Secretary Christine Munro were out and about the village this week thanking businesses for their support.

Leslie commented "We showed them our awards certificates, the glass trophy for the 'Pride of Cheshire East' award and handed out thank you notes with details of the awards.

"We were delighted with the positive reactions we received. I have passed on their thanks and appreciation for the work to our volunteers. It is clear that we are a recognisable part of the business community with many positive comments on the regular Monday morning litter pickers, the volunteers watering over the summer and the beautiful summer displays that enhanced the curb appeal of their businesses. Our efforts do not go unnoticed."

Following a major litter pick on Sunday, 3rd November, on the Bollin Fields estate, the volunteers will be out this Sunday morning picking the route which will be followed by the Remembrance Sunday Parade. New volunteers are very welcome to join the volunteers who are meeting at The Festival Hall at 10:30am. Litter picking equipment is provided but a pair of gloves would come in useful.
