Little ones settle into big school

As the new term began the reception children set off in their new uniforms with shiny shoes and big smiles to be greeted by their new teachers who have been very impressed with the great start they have made at school.

At Alderley Edge Community Primary School the children have spent the mornings getting used to their new classroom and teachers through activites linked to the whole school story "Mixed" by Arree Chung.

Deputy Headteacher and Foundation Stage Leader Lyndsey Platt said, "The children have settled exceptionally well, making new friends and getting used to their new surroundings. We have had a wonderful first week and look forward to a busy and fun year ahead."

Mrs Bathurst, Reception Class Teacher at Alderley Edge School for Girls commented "It has been an absolute joy to welcome the girls into our Reception class. They have already demonstrated a great sense of fun and enthusiasm for learning and I have enjoyed getting to know all about them and their families. They love being outside and we are definitely taking advantage of our amazing new outdoor area and the wonderful equipment they have to explore and experiment with. What a fantastic start to school life for our outstanding four year olds."

Mrs Julia Langford, Head Teacher at The Ryleys said "It's been wonderful to see our Reception class settle in so well into their new classroom with the Reception teaching staff. The children have met their Year 2 buddies, who they will enjoy a weekly lunch with, and they have enjoyed making friends with all the new Reception children who have joined The Ryleys School this term.

"We would like to wish them every success for this coming year and to embrace all the opportunities which will come their way."
