Village Show hailed biggest and best ever

This year's Village Show, which took place in the Festival Hall Saturday, 31st August, has been hailed the biggest and best ever.

Hundreds of local people flocked to view the colourful exhibits , sample the scrumptious home made cakes in the pop up café, try their luck in the grand raffle and for the first time, visit the Bloomers (Alderley Edge in Bloom) information stand.

Run by an enthusiastic team of volunteers from the Alderley Edge Allotments and Gardens Society, the show is now into its second century having evolved over the years

And this year, for the first time, the event took over the Emerson Suite for crafts, paintings and photographs which allowed participants to spread out a bit in the main hall, making it so much easier to get around.

Mike Ockelton, Show Manager, said "Flower displays were magnificent after a much smaller showing last year, due to the hot weather. Conversely, the vegetable classes suffered a bit because of this years rain but nevertheless, there were some superb, eye catching entries.

"The talented crafters produced the largest number of exhibits for many years and showed how diverse domestic craft classes have become.

"It was so nice to see the resurgence of the childrens' fruit and veggie animals. More than a dozen entries and all very cleverly thought out.

"Altogether, a really grand family day out and we intend making it even better next year."

Next year's show date has been booked already for Saturday 29th August 2020 at the Festival Hall.
