Wilmslow man charged with murder following discovery of a body in Handforth

A 43-year-old man has been charged with murder following the discovery of a body in Handforth.

Matthew Bolland, of Budworth Walk, Wilmslow, was arrested in Weaverham Way, Handforth, at around 4am yesterday, Sunday 18th August.

Shortly before he was arrested officers found a woman's body at an address on Meriton Road in Handforth.

Formal identification has yet to be completed but the woman is believed to be a local 55-year-old.

Her family have been informed of the discovery and are currently being supported by specialist officers.

Bolland has been remanded in custody and is set to appear at Crewe Magistrates' Court tomorrow, Tuesday 20th August.

A 51-year-old man from Wilmslow was also arrested on suspicion of murder in relation to the incident. He has since been released under investigation pending further enquiries.

No further action will be taken regarding a 57-year-old man from Handforth who was arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender.

UPDATE 2pm Tuesday 20th August: Matthew Bolland appeared at Crewe Magistrates’ Court today, Tuesday 20 August.

He has been remanded in custody and is set to appear at Chester Crown Court tomorrow, Wednesday, 21st August.
