Family business marks centenary with cycling charity bash

Aldeli hosted a cycling charity event in aid of "cyclists fighting cancer." on Sunday, 30th June, to mark 100 years of trading on their site on Wilmslow Road.

The family run deli is the home to the Cheshire Mavericks cycling club who frequent it in their masses every Friday, Saturday and for their biggest ride on Sundays when, if you have ever been for brunch on a Sunday morning, you can't have missed the sea of Lycra!.

The club were thrilled to have been asked to help mark the 100th anniversary and proceeded to plan an endurance ride setting off from Aldeli. All the rides, which were split into 11 groups, were either 100 kilometres or 100 miles and all finished at the deli, where riders were welcomed with a BBQ on the terrace.

On the day the event raised £685 with further donations post event currently standing at £150 and donations are still coming in.

Additionally all entrance monies went directly to Cyclists fighting Cancer as well as all raffle ticket money.

Aldeli and Highams, which are both run by the Higham family, sponsored the first prize being £1000, which was won by one of the weekly regulars Wai Lee.

Ilana Higham said "It was a fantastic event, enjoyed by all riders and their families - we even had good weather!"
