Updated: 74-year-old pedestrian suffers serious injuries after being struck by car

Emergency services were called to an accident on Davey Lane shortly shortly after 7.30 this morning by the driver of a black BMW which had collided with an elderly gentleman.

The police arrived at the scene of the accident, which occurred as the vehicle pulled onto Davey Lane from Lynton Lane, along with an ambulance and the fire service.

The pedestrian, a 74-year-old man was taken to Stepping Hill Hospital with serious injuries.

Sergeant John O'Driscoll said "The injuries are not believed to be life threatening at this period of time and we are awaiting an update on male's condition.

"The car has been removed by police as a precaution until an outcome of male's condition is known."

The 34 year old female driver of the BMW is uninjured.
