The countdown to Christmas in the village will officially begin on Thursday, 22nd November when the Christmas lights are switched on.

Led by Mitch Gilbert, Chairman of AETAG, a team of volunteers are busy preparing to bring Alderley Edge another enjoyable and festive evening suitable for all ages. London Road will be closed between George Street and Clifton Street from 5pm to 10pm  - with the lights being switched on at approximately 7.15pm.

Father Christmas will visit during the early evening to meet the children and entertainment will be provided by a variety of acts including our school choirs and other talented artists.

As usual the honour of pressing the switch to illuminate the village will be carried out by the winners of the school's poster competition, with the help of a local celebrity who will be announced nearer the time.

Other attractions, all located on London Road, will include fairground rides, festive stalls and an opportunity to visit the many local businesses, retailers and food and drink outlets.

Mitch Gilbert, Chairman of AETAG said "Now in its sixteenth year, we are looking forward to another great evening, as always it's a fun evening and a chance for everyone to get together and celebrate the start of the festive season."
