Students from Royal Northern College of Music to perform lunchtime concert

This month's Lunchtime Concert at Alderley Edge Methodist Church takes place on Wednesday, 17th October, featuring Eleanor Mills and George Strickland.

Eleanor Mills is an enthusiastic bassoonist and performer who has just finished her Masters at the Royal Northern College of Music and is about to continue studying at the RNCM for a Post Graduate Diploma. During her Masters training Eleanor has played with the RNCM's Symphony, Chamber and Concert Orchestras, in the conservatoire's opera, 'La Vie Parisienne', and with RNCM's Wind Orchestra in recordings for Chandos records.

George Strickland is a recent Master's graduate from the Royal Northern College of Music on oboe. While studying at the RNCM, George was awarded the Evelyn Rothwell Oboe Prize, the Trevor Wye Wind Chamber Music and Chris Rowland Audience Prizes with his chamber group Chameleon.

Their programme comprises: Camille Saint Saens: Sonata for Bassoon and Piano in G major, Op. 168; Alexandre Tansman: Sonatina for Bassoon and Piano; Henri Dutilleux: Sarabande et Cortege and Carl Maria von Weber: Andante e rondo ongarese, Op. 35.

Admission is by programme priced £5, which will be available on the door. Light lunches, charged separately, will be served from 12 noon and the recital will commence at 1pm.
