Club President braves the shave for charity

The Union Club on Stevens Street hosted a Macmillan coffee morning on Friday, 28th September, raising £1700.

In addition to serving a selection of cakes, soup, sandwiches and drinks, which raised £500, they organised a 'brave the shave' with one of their members cutting hair in return for a donation to Macmillan, raising an additional £1200.

Karen Robinson, Club President, had her head shaved for Macmillan. She said "Many thanks to Kate Woollam who shaved my hair and did a number of cuts to customers all for donations and also to Janet Roberts who brought her wide range of handmade cards for people to buy, donating 50% of her sales to Macmillan.

"Not forgetting all the helpers from the Union club throughout the day for their time and hard work. And all who donated cakes. Without these people things like this wouldn't be possible."
