15th season of lunchtime concerts kicks off with piano recital

Alderley Edge Methodist Church is now embarking on its 15th season of Lunchtime Concerts and very much looking forward to the first one of the season on Wednesday 19th September.

This will take the form of a piano recital by Matthew and Callum McLachlan.

Jean Walker said "Members of the McLachlan family are regular soloists at our Lunchtime Concerts and we look forward to this months' performances by these two very talented young men."

Matthew, who attended Chetham's in Manchester where he studied piano with Dina Parakhina and cello with Gill Thoday, will perform two items: Bach: Prelude and Fugue no 22 in B flat minor, book one and Stravinsky: Three movements from 'Petrushka'.

Then 19-year-old Callum, who was accepted into Chetham's School of Music in 2010 where he also studied with Dina Parakhina and will begin studying at the world famous Mozarteum in Saltzburg next month, will follow with a performance of Brahms: Variations and Fugue on a theme of Handel.

Admission is by programme priced £5, which will be available on the door. Light lunches, charged separately, will be served from 12 noon and the recital will commence at 1pm.
