Woman named following fatal collision in Handforth

A 29-year-old woman who died following a collision in Handforth has now been named.

Helena Randall from Handforth, died on Monday 21st May after being hit by a car on Wilmslow Road.

At approximately 7.45am police officers were called to reports of a collision between a silver Ford Fiesta and a white Jaguar outside Wilmslow Garden Centre on Manchester Road.

The driver of the Fiesta failed to stop and a continued to drive onto Wilmslow Road where he was involved in a second collision with Helena Randall near to the Freemasons Arms.

Helena sustained serious injuries and was taken to the Royal Salford Hospital. Sadly, she died later that day.

Helena's family said: "As a family we are devastated by Helena's death. We would like to thank everyone for their support and we now request privacy in order to grieve."

The Fiesta again continued to drive along Manchester Road and eventually came to a stop after colliding with a parked car outside Handforth Garage.

The driver of the Fiesta, a 53-year-old man from Stockport was arrested at the scene on suspicion of failing to stop after a collision. He was later released under investigation and taken to Wythenshawe Hospital. He remains released under investigation pending further enquiries.

The driver and two passengers from the Jaguar sustained minor injuries, whilst the vehicle parked outside Handforth Garage was unattended.
