Double celebration for 6th Alderley Scout Group

Alderley Ch 2018

The 6th Alderley Scout Group were amongst almost 500 young people who trekked across the county in this year's Cheshire Hike on April 14th and 15th.

They had a double reason to celebrate as the group collected both the Alderley District Junior and Senior Awards from the event which saw them hike, camp and tackle challenges across two days.

The annual competition brings together hundreds of Scouts and Guides and is a test of the skills picked up at weekly meetings and numerous practice camps and hikes.

The Junior District trophy was won by Tariq Deyeh and Frazier Atkins of 6th Alderley while Leo Arkelaos and Jessica Lightowler from the same group collected the Senior trophy. Whilst the Intermediate prize for Alderley district went to Matthew Mottershead and Sam Murray of the 1st Goostrey troop.

District Commissioner Stephen Buckley said "We're very proud of the efforts of all our Scouts who took part in this year's Cheshire Hike, and particularly well done to our six District winners.

"The hike gives participants the opportunity to put into practice many of the wide range of practical skills they learn in an adventurous setting."
