A pupil from Alderley Edge School for Girls is taking part in a skydive to raise money for Muscular Dystrophy UK.

Sixteen year old Olivia Hughes will be jumping in Lancaster on April 8th for the charity which is very close to her heart because her brother Edward, 19, suffers from Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy.

Olivia said "Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy is a progressive muscle wasting condition, which has affected my brother since he was born. Ed was diagnosed with the condition at the age of four and has been a full time wheelchair user since the age of 10.

"Ed is very bright, he studied at Manchester Grammar School for Boys and is now studying politics at Manchester University. His attitude to life is incredible and he inspires me everyday."

Olivia has also raised money by holding a bake sale and by placing donation boxes around her school, though having never done anything like this before she is feeling quite nervous.

She added "I am aiming to raise as many funds as possible to improve the lives of those suffering from it. This money will go towards research which will hopefully find a cure."

If you would like to support Olivia and help her raise money for Muscular Dystrophy UK you can do so via her Justgiving page.
