Roadworks planned for next few weeks

Drivers are being warned to allow extra time for their journey as three sets of roadworks are planned for the village over the coming weeks.

There are currently traffic lights in place on Congleton Road whilst a gas leak is being repaired, these are expected to be removed tomorrow (Wednesday, 31st January).

Then on Wednesday, 7th February, two way signals will be in place on Macclesfield Road to enable BT to carry out repair work.

Wilmslow Road will then be closed from Monday, 19th February to Friday, 23rd February whilst Cheshire East Council resurfaces a 70m section and reconstructs a 20m section at the top of Brook Lane.

Councillor Craig Browne, who has been chasing Cheshire East Highways for quite some time, said "It will necessitate a road closure because of the type of work that is going to be undertaken and for that reason it has been programmed for the February half term to try and minimise disruption."

The work is being funded with money left over from projects carried out in the current financial year and Councillor Craig Browne has also been assured that Heyes Lane will be included in the programme of works for the 2018/19 financial year.
