Manchester Airport retains its crown for 4th consecutive year

Patrick Alexander and Seb Thompson collect Best UK Airport award

Manchester Airport is flying high after being named the UK's best airport, for a fourth year running, at the Globe Awards hosted by Travel Weekly.

The UK's third largest airport fought off competition from the likes of Heathrow, Liverpool and Birmingham to receive the accolade.

The award comes after a successful 2017 for Manchester Airport, which saw it smash its all-time passenger record, as 27.8m people passed through the airport in the calendar year. It also saw Manchester Airport announce and launch a wealth of new routes including San Francisco, Muscat and Seattle.

Voted for by travel agents, representatives from Manchester Airport picked up the award from comedian Harry Hill, at a glittering award ceremony at Grosvenor House in London.

Patrick Alexander, Head of Marketing, for Manchester Airport, said: "We're delighted to receive this fantastic award and would like to thank all the travel agents who voted for Manchester Airport.

"Last year was an incredible one for the airport with record passenger numbers and expansion by lots of our airlines.

"Looking ahead, we have some very exciting new routes already confirmed to start in 2018. We'll also be working hard to try and retain our crown for a fifth year."

If Manchester Airport is Britain's best, then surely Donald Trump should be awarded the Nobel Prize for global statesmanship along with the Vidal Sassoon Award for the Most Elegant Natural Haircut.

Who on earth judges these awards?

This is a nonsense ..... Manchester Airport is a disaster, as I explained in a previous discussion a few weeks ago about other awards being thrown at this airport.

The havoc that MAG (Manchester Airport Group) is wreaking on motorists at the Airport City development by the M56 is nothing short of scandalous.

It has been running for far too long, was poorly conceived, very poorly executed and (I suspect) when finished will continue to cause lengthy delays for traffic travelling to the M56 from Wilmslow / Alderley Edge.

The main beneficiaries will be Amazon, DHL and MAG who will be inflicting an additional 30 - 60 minutes daily delay on thousands of commuters in order to inflate their profits.

There was a more efficient way of dealing with access to the development but that would have cost them more money and it is easier for them to offload the pain onto us......thanks!

A pat on the back from travel agents and it means sweet nothing to your passengers Manchester Airport! The proof is reading real reviews from REAL passengers on sites like Skytrax (who need to see a scanned airline ticket to make sure you are a bona fide passenger.) The score is shamefully low for Manchester Airport and it is now considered to be one of the worst airports in Europe. Here is the true story in the link below and if any MAG staff are reading this (especially security managers) hang your heads in shame. http://bit.ly/2GqYrp9
