On your marks for the Wilmslow Festive 10K

Promotional Feature

This years Wilmslow Festive 10k takes place on Sunday 26th November starting outside Hoopers at 9.30am. Over 3000 participants will run the sold out festive curtain raiser from Wilmslow town centre out in a loop down Knutsford Road and finishing at Mobberley Road on the outskirts of Wilmslow.

Organisers Run North West say the run has proved highly popular with entries doubling from last years inaugural event.

Retailers are anticipating a welcome boost and most cafes recorded one of the busiest Sundays on record last year. The Wilmslow 10k supports The Christie charity with many participants running to raise money for good causes and Christmas toy drop will also be in operation at the race HQ, Wilmslow Leisure Centre.

The safety of participants and residents is the events absolute priority and for this reason the whole 10k route is ran on fully closed roads.

The road closures are for as short a period of time as possible to minimise disruption. As the last runner passes through each section of the course it will re-open with approximate timings as follows;

Alderley Road, Hoopers to the Kings Arms roundabout- 8.30am until 10am.
Knutsford Road - 9am until 10.30am.
B5085 Knutsford Road - 9.15am until 11am.
Newton Hall Lane - 9.20am until 11.30am.
Burleyhurst Lane to Morley Green Road junction - 9.25am until 11.30am
Morley Green Road junction along Mobberley Road to the Altrincham Road junction - 8am until 12noon (finish area)

Over 100 marshals will be on the route for the safety of runners and residents. No vehicles, excluding a blue light emergency, will be permitted to enter or leave the route during the closure.

Run North West would like to thank residents for their patience. Many runners are from outside the area and are visiting Wilmslow for the first time, it is hoped that they will see how lovely the area is and visit on a regular basis. Residents on the route are encouraged to come out and give the runners some encouragement as fitness contributes a lot of positivity in our modern society.

The event is made possible with the kind help of local organisations including Wilmslow Hockey Club, Wilmslow Running club and local scout groups. Special thanks also goes to Royal London and The Emerson Group for the kind use of their private car parks.

Further details of the event and road closures can be found at www.runnorthwest.co.uk.

A special 2018 early bird race offer combining the July Alderley Edge bypass 10k & Wilmslow 10k will be launched after this years run.
