A concert of musical fireworks!

Cappriccio plus Double Bass (1)

A vocal ensemble will be performing at Alderley Edge Methodist Church next month to raise money for COPS (Care of Police Survivors).

Capriccio was formed with the specific aim of raising funds for worthy causes. To that end they do not charge a fee but meet their own incidental expenses and donate the entire proceeds of each concert to the charity organising the event.

Their first concert in 2014 was for a charity with personal relevance to one of the original six singers. They sang to a capacity audience at St. Oswald's Church in Bollington in March 2015 and raised the magnificent amount of £1261 for The ALEX Project, a local Parkinson's support group.

Since then, they have made significant contributions to the ALEX Project (a local Parkinson's support group), the Vision Project at Wilmslow Methodist Church, Arthritis Research UK, Macclesfield Rotary Charities and St George's URC in Thornton Hough.

Police Chaplain Rev'd Chris Andrew said "Capriccio perform a range of music both classical and popular from Baroque to the Beatles and beyond. They are a versatile group and generally sing either a cappella or accompanied by organ or piano as appropriate. Their concerts usually end with an item that the audience can sing along with."

However for their next concert, at Alderley Edge Methodist Church on Sunday 5th November, they will be joined by an orchestra for the ever popular 'Gloria' by Vivaldi. Appropriately, the orchestra will perform Handel's 'Music for the Royal Fireworks'.

The concert is in aid of COPS (Care of Police Survivors). This UK registered charity is dedicated to helping the families of police officers who have lost their lives. It aims to ensure that survivors have all the help they need to cope with such a tragedy and that they remain part of the police family.

The concert will commence at 3pm at Alderley Edge Methodist Church on Chapel Road. Tickets, priced £8 including tea and cake which will be served afterwards, are available from Cherry Smith on 01625 829805 or on the door. Entrance for under 18's is free.
