Disabled bays to be installed on Church Lane

DSCN3507

Following a meeting with officers from Cheshire East Highways on Tuesday, 19th September, Councillor Craig Browne has confirmed that two disabled parking bays will be created on Church Lane.

Craig Browne said "This is in response to a request from the Church Council and has also been discussed with Alderley Edge Primary School."

The proposed bays would be in operation between the hours of 8am to 6pm, seven days a week and the plans will be advertised during a period of public consultation in late-October/early-December.

No-one is against 'disabled bays'.
However there are already two 'disabled bays' in the car park in the park, opposite Church Lane.
I pass them every day and sadly they are hardly ever used; possibly as they are somewhat tucked away in a corner of that car park.
Whereas Church Lane is fully used for parking every week-day.
Would it save money by letting the disabled community be more aware of the two bays? Possibly by either moving the bays to the front of the car park or by errecting a sign telling disabled drivers that the bays are there ?

Further to the above: today I checked on the two 'Disabled Bays' in the Railway Station car park. They too were empty.
Does all this mean that the bays are not being made obvious or are they not needed or are they in the wrong places.
Perhaps the best peole to answer would be the users of 'Disabled Bays'?
