18-year-old woman dies after fatal collision on A34

A teenager from Manchester has sadly died following a collision in Wilmslow.

At approximately 3.30am on Sunday, 23rd July, police officers and firefighters were called to reports of a collision on the A34 Maclean Way at the roundabout junction with A538 Manchester Road.

Upon arrival at the scene, officers found a white Vauxhall Mokka had crashed into street furniture.

Two people were out of the vehicle and the fire crew released one female who was trapped in the vehicle and handed her to the care of paramedics.

Sadly, the passenger of the vehicle, an 18-year-old woman from Manchester was taken to hospital and died a short time later. Her next of kin have been informed and they are being supported by specialist officers.

The driver of the car, a 21-year-old man from Manchester, was arrested on suspicion of drink driving and has been released under investigation.
