The Alderley Edge Civic Service was held at Alderley Edge Methodist Church on Sunday, 2nd July, led by Rev Ben Clowes with input from Rev Robin Pye, vicar of St Philip and St James, Parish Councillors and friends from St Pius X Catholic Church.

The congregation were thrilled to hear the beautiful singing of Alderley Edge Community Primary School Choir during the service which was attended by 180 people from across the village along with local dignitaries and three mayors - he Mayor of Cheshire East, the Mayor of Macclesfield and the Mayor of Poynton - who were accompanied by their consorts.

Rev Ben Clowes said "My theme was 'all talk and no action', highlighting the way that in churches and civic society the work of helping, supporting and building community is often left to a small group but reminded everyone that there is a danger that in all walks of life that we simply descend into having meetings and talking about things without actually solving anything."
There was an offering taken during the service which went to the Alderley Edge Civic Fund.
