Alderley Edge Cricket Club is looking forward to hosting the popular Village Fete for the 8th year this weekend.

Once again the family event will include the popular dog show where visitors are encouraged to bring along their pets and enter them into the various fun categories.

The marquee will be filled with 30 handpicked independent exhibitors from the local area providing a market of home food and gift stalls whilst the youngsters can enjoy the fun fair rides.

Refreshments will include afternoon teas provided by ladies from the tennis club, plus there will be a Pimms & Prosecco bar along with a BBQ.

John Berry, General Manager of Alderley Edge Cricket Club, said "The idea of holding an annual village fete was conceived by Emma Bolton of the Lavender Tree and myself as we felt a village such as Alderley was lacking in traditional village community events. The end result was a very family orientated afternoon with something for the whole family to enjoy and the village cricket club provided the ideal location for such an event.

"Since the Fete was introduced into the calendar the local residents now have the extremely popular May Fair, annual Firework Display and the Christmas lights switch on, all organised by locals for locals."

Alderley Edge Cricket Club looks forward to welcoming residents of Alderley Edge and visitors to the village fete on Sunday 2nd July from 1pm to 5pm. Entrance is £1 and the fete will be supporting Guide Dogs for the Blind and East Cheshire Hospice.

Alderley Edge Cricket Club are also hosting Francis Fest mini music festival on the evening of Saturday, 1st July, raising funds for Francis House Childrens Hospice. Entry to that event is £15 and includes a summer punch on arrival then music provided by 5 local acts: Zacc Rogers, John Dhali, Aerynn, Kyle Ross and Alexis McLean.

There will also be a DJ, caricaturist, face painting, chain saw wood carving, pizzas, traditional coconut shy and raffle. To book tickets, priced £15 per person, email Lucy Thompson or call her on 0161 443 2200.
