Charity concert raises £4000 for The Christie

A charity event held at the Festival Hall on Friday, 16th June, has been hailed a big success.

The 'Festival of Floyd & Food' was sold out days before the event seeing 250 people gather at the hall for a hog roast and live music from 'Moon Dust'. This was followed by a one and a half hour set of Pink Floyd's greatest hits, performed by the Pink Floydian tribute band.

The night was organised by local residents Colin Gillies and Annette Jacobsen and raised £4,031 for The Christie Hospital.

Colin Gillies said "The fire at The Christie Hospital destroyed years of research and life-saving equipment worth millions of pounds. It is vital, not only to saving lives here in the UK but across the world, that we all help to get this research centre back on track and help in whatever way we can.

"What better way to do this than to share an evening with the inherently generous people of Alderley Edge, and step back in time to enjoy some of the finest music ever produced."

This was a fantastic night, all the hard work by Colin & Annette paid off with a substantial amount raised for The Christie, also thanks to the two bands that played that night and to all the volunteers that made this night a very memorable occasion.
If anybody gets the chance to go and see the band "Pinkfloydian" you will not be disappointed, absolutely outstanding!!!!!!

I heartily agree with Peter. Both bands were superb, and for a while at least I was taken back about 40+ years. A fantastic evening and many thanks to all those involved in organising the event.
