Plea to support local shops as florist closes its door

DSCN2812

A local business owner has called for residents to support local shops after taking the difficult decision to close her florist this week.

Alderley Flowers on London Road has closed its doors saying they were unable to compete with the supermarket.

The following message was left on the door:

To all our customers

It is with great sadness I have to write this, Alderley Flowers has had to close its doors, we have worked hard to compete with a certain supermarket in the village and we cannot anymore.

I would like to take this opportunity to say thank you for your custom, laughs and coffee drank in this shop!

Please please support local shops!!!!

Team Alderley Flowers.

I am so sorry to hear this news. That same supermarket contributed to our decision to close Mr Simms last summer. It is just impossible for small traders to compete. I'm sure you will be very sadly missed. It's just a shame people cannot realise until it's too late that they could help so much by making the concerted effort to shop at independents.

It is sad to see yet another small, local business go under.
If we wish to preserve the remaining small/local businesses, then we have to use them.
Get in to them and spend a few bob ?
